Story

Chef Gianluca, a culinary maestro hailing from the picturesque island of Sardinia, developed his passion for food at an early age while spending countless hours in his grandfather's bustling market. This formative experience instilled in him a profound appreciation for fresh ingredients and traditional culinary practices. Gianluca graduated with honors from the prestigious I.P.A.S. Istituto Professionale Alberghiero Statale in Arzachena—Costa Smeralda, one of Italy's premier culinary institutions.

His dedicated studies paved the way for remarkable career opportunities across Europe, where he honed his craft in fine dining establishments, including Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels. Over the years, Gianluca had the privilege of working alongside some of the culinary world's most respected figures, including Gualtiero Marchesi, the renowned 3-star Michelin chef; Andre De Mechavere, Executive Chef of the Savoy Hotel in London; and Carluccio, the esteemed founder of a beloved restaurant chain.

In 2000, Gianluca took a bold step and moved to New York City, where he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by opening and managing several successful Italian restaurants and wine bars. His dream was to share the rich culinary heritage of Sardinia, renowned for its unique Mediterranean diet and status as a blue zone, with a broader audience.

In 2001, Gianluca expanded his horizons even further by acquiring a winery, Feudi della Medusa, in Italy. There, he established a restaurant and wine bar, along with "Accademia del Cibo," where he dedicates himself to teaching young chefs the importance of preserving Italian culinary traditions in every dish. He has educated over 6,000 students annually in New York and has earned recognition as an ambassador for authentic Italian products.

In addition to his teaching and restaurant ventures, Gianluca is the founder of Zafferano & Co., an e-commerce website dedicated to promoting and selling only the finest Made in Italy products. His reputation has led him to cater to a host of high-profile clientele, including celebrities and dignitaries such as Pepito Rossi, Dwayne Merriman, Donald Trump, Michael Bloomberg, Luciano Pavarotti, and many others.

Through his culinary journey, Chef Gianluca remains committed to celebrating the beauty of life, food, and the joys of Sardinian culture, sharing his passion with everyone he encounters.
